Broadcast and Digital Journalism

Nick Ursini is from Madison, Connecticut and attended Ohio University, majoring in Communications, with a minor in Journalism and Sports Management. Nick has always had a passion for sports. He picked up a baseball when he was three-years-old and played until he was 17. He worked for WOUB-TV, the public television station on campus in Athens, Ohio. At WOUB, he served as the sports director, overseeing 50 other student reporters. Nick was a sports reporter for WOUB’s nightly newscast, NewsWatch. He was a reporter for their high school football and basketball shows for three years, Gridiron Glory and Hardwood Heroes respectively. Nick was also the Ohio Baseball beat reporter for his entire four years in Athens. He wrote recaps, tweeted live updates, interviewed coaches and players before and after the game and posted recap videos to YouTube. Nick’s most proud achievement to date was covering a local high school football team who made it to the state championship game that was played at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio where he was on the sideline. Nick looks to gain more experience in sports broadcasting at Syracuse University, reporting for games. He hopes to use his skillset from Ohio and Syracuse to pursue a digital media or broadcasting job at the PGA Tour after graduation from Newhouse.
