Broadcast and Digital Journalism
Maria Trivelpiece graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Psychology. Sports have always been a huge part of her life. In her time at Fordham, Maria was a member of WFUV Radio Station where she covered the FedEx Cup, the Big East Men's Basketball Tournament, the New York Islanders and the Long Island Knicks. She anchored the Monday morning sportscast for two years, wrote articles on different teams on campus, and produced packages. She also wrote for the school's paper, the Ram, where she covered sports such as rowing and water polo. Maria interned with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in 2018 where she conducted interviews, managed the social media, and wrote game stories and features. Because she played softball at Fordham, she was asked to develop content for AthleteNetwork about the life of a student-athlete. She was also an intern for the campus counseling center where she managed social media and outreach events. She helped pioneer a program between athletics and the center. In her time at Syracuse University, she wants to improve her skills in broadcasting and reporting so that she can effectively tell the stories of the athletes she is covering. After graduation, she hopes to use her skills to be an analyst or reporter for a network or team.
