Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse Orange defeated the Colgate Raiders 3-0 on Tuesday, September 23rd. It was Ian McIntyre’s 142nd win, making him the winningest coach in Syracuse soccer history.

The Orange started the first half holding the fair share of play in their final third, but the game slowly subsided into a stalemate as both teams were unable to find the back of the net within the first forty-five minutes.
Asked about the first half, McIntyre said that “Colgate probably shaded it” and that Syracuse “didn’t people play with that patience”.
Right after Coach McIntyre introduced his first set of substitutions, tensions started to boil as the Orange’s Chimere Omeze was booked for a strong tackle on the Raiders defender, Malik Samms.
In the 58th minute of the second half, a potential breakthrough for Syracuse came when the Orange’s Sachiel Ming was brought down in the box. Although a video review and tense couple minutes ensued, a penalty was awarded, and Carlos Zambrano was able to calmly convert the first goal of the game. Two minutes later, the Orange’s Zambrano was able to find the net again, capitalizing on the Raiders’ defensive communication errors. In the 66th minute, Zambrano was able to find the net for the third time, completing his hat trick by breaking the Raiders’ defensive line and finishing at the far post.
