Season-High 91 Points Propel Syracuse to Win Over Northeastern

Syracuse, NY – After picking up a much-needed win against Mercyhurst earlier in the week, Syracuse (8-4) kept the momentum going with a 91-83 victory over the Northeastern Huskies (4-6) on Saturday night.

It was a high-scoring affair from the Dome, with the Orange scoring a season-high 91 but giving up the second-highest points allowed this season, 83, to the Huskies.

Ryan Williams led the way for the Huskies with 20 points, shooting 8 of 10 from the field before fouling out with 2:37 left in the game.

For Syracuse, Naithan George with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists, a team high in scoring this season. It was an efficient night for the junior, shooting 5 of 8 from the field and 12 of 14 from the charity stripe.

Syracuse saw itself at the line 48 times tonight, burying 34 of them, the most they have made in a game since they made 35 against Boston College in February of 2025.

“I got to give my guys credit . . . when it counted, they stepped up and made it,” head coach Adrian Autry said.

While it was a much-improved night from the line for Syracuse, it was a tale of two halves from the charity stripe.

The Orange shot an excellent 93% from the line in the first half, but followed it up by shooting a poor 61.8%, which ultimately allowed Northeastern to stay in the game.

16 of Williams’ 20 points for the Huskies came in the 2nd half alongside a strong 14-point performance in the half from his teammate Xander Alarie, which pulled the Huskies within five with 2:03 to go.

“Very frustrating, but… you just have to keep challenging them and pushing them,” coach Autry said after Syracuse gave up 52 second-half points to the Huskies.

Ultimately, down the stretch, it wasn’t the defensive efforts that secured the win; it was the offensive efforts led by George and followed by Kiyan Anthony and Tyler Betsey, who combined for 32 points off the bench.

“That was my mindset today just to come in and score right away, and you know, just do whatever I can to help my team win,” Anthony said.

Syracuse moves to 8-4 and is back in action on Monday, December 22nd, against Stonehill to close out their non-conference schedule before they begin ACC play against Clemson on New Year’s Eve.
