Jeremy Striano

Jeremy Striano, from Kearny, New Jersey, is a Syracuse University Graduate Student studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism on the Sports Communication Track. He graduated from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and received a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication Studies with a minor in Theology. While at Catholic, he was the color commentator for the university’s Club Ice Hockey Team; games were live streamed through the university’s radio station, WCUA. Jeremy was also a radio for that station, creating his own hockey-themed radio show titled “The Dekin’ Deacon Hockey Show”, which was later turned into a podcast on Spotify during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also volunteered his time by organizing and taking lead in various Campus Ministry activities. He is very grateful and excited to be a part of this new family, the Newhouse Sports family, where he aspires to seek the knowledge and skills in effort to enhance his broadcasting capabilities, in every facet of the broadcast media platform. While at home, he can be seen watching any sport and cheering on his favorite teams, especially hockey and the New York Rangers. He also enjoys watching baseball and soccer, two of his pastimes from growing up in Kearny, dubbed by ESPN as “Soccertown, USA”. He one day hopes to get the chance to be the play-by-play announcer for any team, in any sport. He is excited to be here at Syracuse and is ready for what the next 13 months have in store for him and his cohort!
