Zach Staton grew up in Salem, VA. He attended Bridgewater College and received his Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Coaching.
During his time at BC, he provided play-by-play commentary for football, basketball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, and field hockey. As a freshman, he became the public address announcer for the men's and women's basketball teams. He also became a contributor for the student radio organization, BC Spark Radio, and was named the director of the organization during his junior year. He co-hosted and produced the first student sports show, The Sports Hotline.
He interned at Mel Wheeler Inc., a company that owns seven radio stations in the Roanoke, VA market. As an intern, he worked in the newsroom, collecting local sports stories for a daily "Virginia Sports Minute." He also contributed to a live sports talk show, Greg Roberts Live. While in school, he worked as a board operator and for various high school and college games for Harrisonburg Radio Group.
Zach's goal is to become a play-by-play broadcaster for the NBA, NCAA football, and NCAA basketball.
