Broadcast and Digital Journalism
Mike Drew comes to Syracuse from his hometown of Danvers, Massachusetts. He graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a minor in Business Management.
He says being a play-by-play announcer is the only goal he’s ever allowed himself to devote his energy to. Since the beginning of his high-school career, he has received invaluable experience calling many sports (football, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, hockey, men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse). He has called high-school games for Danvers Community Access Television (where he has both worked and interned) and done over 200 games live-streamed on the web at Westfield State, where he served as the student director of the sports broadcasting program.
He says “I have always dreamed of coming to Syracuse and my time here represents the largest opportunity in my life to date. I will look to sharpen my skills in any way possible in the hopes of working my way onto network television in the future.”
