Broadcast and Digital Journalism
Jon Cerio is from Syracuse, NY, and is a life-long fan of Syracuse University athletics. Jon has three degrees in television and film, with his most recent degree coming from the Newhouse School’s Television, Radio and Film master’s program in 2008. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, and later interned for Twentieth Century Fox in Los Angeles.
Upon entering college, Jon aspired to be a sports broadcaster for ESPN. After seeing the production side of broadcasting in school, he decided to pursue a career in the television and film industry. Over the last 10 years, Jon has split his time between LA and Syracuse, with a resume that’s covered radio broadcasting, media management and production, camera operation and directing. He’s worked in varying aspects of the industry for shows like The Price is Right, American Idol, the X Factor, and Dancing with the Stars, as well as filmed for professional, collegiate and high school athletics locally.
His most recent position with CNY Central in Syracuse reignited his passion for the world of journalism. Jon plans to use his dual master’s degrees as a unique platform to make an indelible mark in the sports broadcasting world.
