Broadcast and Digital Journalism
Corey Crisan earned his B.A. in Telecommunication Studies with a minor in Communication Studies from Youngstown State University in December 2016. While attending YSU, Corey focused on Sports Broadcasting and spent time as the play-by-play voice for YSU softball and women’s volleyball teams and worked as a photographer and video journalist for The Jambar on campus. Corey also held office as President of Rookery Radio at YSU, and he hosted a sports program known as “The Timeout” for three years on the station. He also highlighted his local weeks in high school football as the host of a Friday night program called “Blitz Live” on Vindy Talk Radio at The Vindicator in Youngstown during the 2016 season. In addition, he spent time as a production intern at Rubber City Radio and AM 1590 WAKR in Akron. Corey has been a member of Indians Baseball Insider on Scout.com since December 2014, where he started as a contributor and then began work as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Short-Season Low-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians) beat reporter in 2015 and continued through the 2016 season. He also cohosts the IBI’s weekly Farm Report Podcast, detailing news and events throughout the Indians Minor League system. He also writes for Rum Bunter, the Pittsburgh Pirates section of FanSided.com, and has contributed as a writer to AmicoHoops.net, where he covered the Portland Trail Blazers.
